If you are working on a microsoft word document or any other ms office file, it’s not that difficult to count the number of words on the page. However, if you are on a web page, lets say a blog post and would like to get an idea about the length of the post in terms of number of words, then there is no straightforward method to accomplish that.
Count On it is a simple and free word count website which aims to make word counting an easier process. You can upload a file ( maximum size 1 MB ) and click on count to get the results. The file types supported are PDF, HTML, XML, CSV and text.
It can count words and characters with and without spaces and also count Asian characters and non Asian words. Since the tool is online, it can be used anywhere and anytime.
I tested it by uploading a PDF file to check the performance. It gave a 500 internal server error the first time, however when I tried again, it was quite fast in uploading and displaying the results. It displayed the word counting results in the format you can see below.
So, overall, a nice and simple tool to count words in documents of different formats. It doesn’t support MS Office files (like microsoft word ) though and I think there is really no need because as I mentioned, MS Office files have a fairly easy way to count the number of words in the document.
